2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Hobby Box

Full checklist
2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey hobby box
What are these options?
Hobby Box
The full-size box sold through card shops rather than big-box stores. It has the most packs and the best odds, and most modern hobby boxes guarantee at least one autograph or memorabilia card. Pack and card counts vary by product line. Older listings sometimes call this a wax box.
Blaster Box
The small retail box sold at stores like Walmart and Target, usually the cheapest full box on the shelf. Autographs are not guaranteed, but many blasters carry exclusive parallels you cannot pull from a hobby box.
Retail Box
A full box of the individual packs sold loose at big-box stores, often 24 of them. Same base set as the hobby version, with fewer or no guaranteed hits.
Tin
A decorated metal box holding a handful of packs, often with a bonus card inside. The packs are standard product; the tin and its extras are the draw.
Cases
The factory-sealed carton a product ships in, holding a set number of boxes. A full case is the whole carton; an inner case is a smaller sealed block from inside it. Case buyers get untouched pack sequencing and a lower price per box. Some rare cards are seeded about once per case, which is what collectors mean by a case hit.

Frequently asked

What's the big rookie chase in this box?
Cale Makar (#493 Young Guns) is the marquee rookie everyone hunts. Young Guns land 1:4 packs, so you'll pull about six per box on average. Other key rookies include Kaapo Kakko, Kirby Dach, and Jack Hughes.
Are there autographs in 2019-20 Series 2?
No, this product has no autographs. It's a base and insert-focused release. If you're chasing signatures, you'd want to look at premium products like The Cup or Allure.
What's the deal with UD Canvas?
UD Canvas is the cornerstone insert printed on different card stock. Regular cards hit 1:8 packs, but there are tougher subsets: Young Guns (1:48), Team Canada Program of Excellence (1:192), and Retired Stars (1:192). All Canvas cards have one-of-one Printing Plate parallels.
How do the parallels work for base cards?
Base veterans have Clear Cut parallels (1:96 packs), while Young Guns Clear Cuts are much tougher (1:288 packs). You also get Exclusives (/100) and High Gloss (/10) parallels. Photo Variations are super rare at 1:1,000 packs.
What's Fluorescence and why do people chase it?
Fluorescence is a brightly colored rookie-only insert in four colors with different print runs: Gold (/150), Blue (/50), Green (/15), and Magenta (/5). The lower-numbered versions are tough pulls and popular with collectors.
How many cards are in the base set?
Series 2 adds 250 cards to the flagship release, continuing numbering from Series 1. That's 200 veterans and 50 Young Guns rookies, with one checklist card.
What's Day with the Cup?
Eight St. Louis Blues cards showing their personal moments with the Stanley Cup after winning in 2019. They're super rare at 1:1,000 packs, so most boxes won't hit one.
Is this a good value compared to other UD hockey products?
Series 2 is solid for set builders and rookie hunters since you're guaranteed six Young Guns per box and a good mix of inserts. It's more affordable than premium products but still pricey for a non-auto release. The value depends on whether you're chasing specific rookies or building the full set.
What are the best inserts in 2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2?
Worth keeping an eye out for: Young Guns (1:4 packs), UD Canvas (1:8 packs), Fluorescence, Day with the Cup (1:1000 packs), UD Portraits Rookies (1:6 packs), Rookie Materials (1:55 packs).
When did 2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 come out?
It dropped February 19, 2020.
What's in a 2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 hobby box?
24 packs per box, 8 cards per pack, 12 boxes per case
