The full-size box sold through card shops rather than big-box stores. It has the most packs and the best odds, and most modern hobby boxes guarantee at least one autograph or memorabilia card. Pack and card counts vary by product line. Older listings sometimes call this a wax box.

For collectors who want hits without Cup money. Figure on an auto or relic every box or two, with rookies you'll actually recognize.
Q2What's the main draw of 2011-12 SPx?
Every box comes with one autographed rookie jersey card guaranteed. That's the core appeal. You're also getting dual memorabilia cards and ICE Premier rookies, but the auto rookie jersey is what you're opening for.
Q3Which rookies have autographed jerseys in this set?
There are two tiers. Level 1 includes players like Justin Faulk, John Moore, Zack Kassian, Craig Smith, and Brandon Saad (26 players total, serial numbered to 799). Level 2 is the tougher pull with just six rookies: Cody Hodgson, Brett Connolly, Mark Scheifele, Sean Couturier, Gabriel Landeskog, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (serial numbered to 499).
Q4What are the parallel versions?
Most base and insert cards have Patch parallels numbered to 25 or 35. The Legends of Hockey and SPx Rookies sets have Spectrum parallels to 25. Higher-end inserts like Finite Rookies have Spectrum 1/1 parallels. Serial numbering varies by insert type, ranging from /25 to /799.
Q5How hard is it to pull Autographed Flashback Fabrics?
Very hard. They're inserted at 1:252 packs, which works out to roughly one per case (12 boxes). These feature legends and established stars like Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Patrick Roy with autographs and memorabilia.
Q6What's the Shadow Box insert?
Shadow Box is an oversized card set inserted at 1:504 packs. It features 20 players including Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Steven Stamkos. The Stamkos card is an autograph version, making it extremely rare. There's also a Shadow Box Stoppers subset focused on goaltenders.
Q7Are there any other notable inserts?
Yes. Rookie Materials cards come in two levels and feature memorabilia of top prospects. Flashback Fabrics (non-auto) are inserted at 1:126 packs and showcase veterans. SPx Finite Rookies are serial numbered and have 1/1 Spectrum parallels. There's also a Programme of Excellence subset with rare autographs of Cody Hodgson and Wayne Gretzky.
Q8What's included in the bonus pack?
Each box comes with a bonus pack containing four ICE base cards. ICE is a separate Upper Deck product, so these are a nice bonus but not part of the main SPx set.
Q9How many total cards are in the set?
The main SPx set has 265 cards across base, Legends of Hockey, Rookies, Rookie Jerseys, Autographed Rookie Jerseys, and various insert subsets. There are also ICE cards in the bonus pack, which are technically a separate product.
Q10When did 2011-12 Upper Deck SPx come out?
It dropped May 8, 2012.
Q11What's in a 2011-12 Upper Deck SPx hobby box?
18 packs per box, 4 cards per pack, plus 1 bonus pack per box
Q12Where can I buy 2011-12 Upper Deck SPx?
We track listings across the major North American card shops and surface the best price up top. The Buy on eBay links go through the eBay Partner Network.
