Hobby Box

The full-size box sold through card shops rather than big-box stores. It has the most packs and the best odds, and most modern hobby boxes guarantee at least one autograph or memorabilia card. Pack and card counts vary by product line. Older listings sometimes call this a wax box.

Hobby Mega Box

A mega box sold through card shops instead of mass retail, with its own exclusive parallels. Expect it to cost more than the retail mega of the same set.

Mega Box

A mid-size retail box, bigger than a blaster and smaller than a hobby box. Mega-exclusive parallels are the main draw, and some megas guarantee a hit.

Hobby Blaster Box

A blaster-size box sold through card shops instead of mass retail. It carries its own chase content and costs more than the store-shelf blaster of the same set.

Blaster Box

The small retail box sold at stores like Walmart and Target, usually the cheapest full box on the shelf. Autographs are not guaranteed, but many blasters carry exclusive parallels you cannot pull from a hobby box.

Retail Box

A full box of the individual packs sold loose at big-box stores, often 24 of them. Same base set as the hobby version, with fewer or no guaranteed hits.

Panini sells Choice as its own box tier, built around a single pack holding base cards, parallels and a guaranteed hit. The Choice-only parallels are the draw, and they carry the word in their names. Look for Choice Red, Blue, Black Gold and the one of one Choice Nebula, so the card itself tells you which box it came from. Autograph counts vary by product line. Panini's version of a product for markets outside the US. Same checklist, with exclusive parallels in place of some domestic ones. no huddle

A Panini Mosaic box sold beside the standard hobby box, built around colored parallels that carry the No Huddle name and appear in no other box. The trade against a Mosaic hobby box is one autograph instead of two, in exchange for more packs and that exclusive parallel run. Pack counts have changed by year, so check the product.

Cases

The factory-sealed carton a product ships in, holding a set number of boxes. A full case is the whole carton; an inner case is a smaller sealed block from inside it. Case buyers get untouched pack sequencing and a lower price per box. Some rare cards are seeded about once per case, which is what collectors mean by a case hit.
