What are these options?
- Hobby Box
- The full-size box sold through card shops rather than big-box stores. It has the most packs and the best odds, and most modern hobby boxes guarantee at least one autograph or memorabilia card. Pack and card counts vary by product line. Older listings sometimes call this a wax box.
- Blaster Box
- The small retail box sold at stores like Walmart and Target, usually the cheapest full box on the shelf. Autographs are not guaranteed, but many blasters carry exclusive parallels you cannot pull from a hobby box.

Frequently asked
Who's 2023-24 Upper Deck CHL for?
For collectors who want hits without Cup money. Figure on an auto or relic every box or two, with rookies you'll actually recognize.
What's the main draw of 2023-24 CHL?
It's a prospect-focused set covering Canadian junior leagues. Every hobby box guarantees either an autograph or an Outburst parallel, so there's always a hit. The Stars and Star Rookies short prints (one per pack average) are the backbone of the chase.
How many cards are in the base set?
400 total. The core is a 300-card shell set, then 50 Stars and 50 Star Rookies round it out. The Stars and Rookies are short prints that fall one per pack on average.
What are the key parallels?
Outburst is the main one (1:48 packs). Base cards also have Exclusives (/100), High Gloss (/10), Red Outburst (/25), Gold Outburst (1/1), and Printing Plates (1/1). Insert sets have Red (/125), Blue (/25), and Black (1/1) versions.
Are autographs guaranteed in every box?
No. Base, Stars, and Star Rookie autographs are each 1:48 packs. Most hobby boxes will have an autograph, but it's not a lock. If you don't pull an auto, you're guaranteed an Outburst parallel instead.
What insert sets should I know about?
There are six: Best Is Yet to Come (1:4 packs), Future Charge (1:5 packs), First Draft (1:7 packs), and Top Imports (1:9 packs). All have Red, Blue, and Black parallels, and some cards have autograph versions. Two newer sets are Future Charge and Best Is Yet to Come.
What's a typical hobby box yield?
You'll get 12 packs of 16 cards each. Expect 1 auto or Outburst parallel, 9 insert cards, 2 parallels, and 12 Stars or Star Rookies short prints.
Is this a good value product?
It depends on your budget and interest in junior prospects. At around $95 CAD per box, you're guaranteed a hit (auto or Outburst), and the insert sets offer variety. If you follow CHL prospects closely, it's solid. Otherwise, it's a mid-tier product.
